Registration for Pittcon 2009 Short Courses from March 7th -13th 2009 is now open, according to the Pittsburgh Conference organisation.

The courses are a major component of the many opportunities for continuing education and networking available at Pittcon 2009, with the Pittsburgh Conference noting that 23% of Short Course attendees take two or more courses while attending the event.

The average attendance per course is 17 participants.

Courses, offered in more than 60 topic areas consisting of half to two-day sessions, are designed for beginning, intermediate, or advanced students to further technical knowledge and provide intensive practical training in specific disciplines.

Conferees who register for courses before February 9th 2009, save up to 30% off the already economical Short Course fees. The Pittcon Conference and Expo registration fee will be waived for those who take three or more Short Courses.

Pittcon 2009 has revealed that 31 new course titles have been added, including

Rapid Deployment of On-Site Analysis and Response to Critical Chem-Bio Emergencies, Quality Assurance of FT-IR Spectra, Analytical Method Transfer for Pharmaceutical Products, and An Introduction  to Helium Ion Microscopy and its Analytical Capabilities.
